On December 1, 2012, W4 Founder Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke will be a guestspeaker at the inaugural TEDxBarcelonaWomen event, organized by Aurélie Salvaire, on the theme of “Empowering women around the Mediterranean”. TED is an internationally renowned nonprofit dedicated to “ideas worth spreading”, which organizes and hosts engaging live performances and presentations by innovators from a vast spectrum of fields.

Lindsey’s talk will highlight “The New Cyberwave of Women’s Empowerment”. Lindsey will be joined by a lineup of social entrepreneurs including Melih Özsöz, Co-founder of çöp (m)adam, Iman Bibars, Director of Ashoka Arab World, Rebecca Chiao, Founder of HarassMap, and Ana Bella, Founder of Fundación Ana Bella.

W4 Founder Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke has been invited by the French Minister of Women’s Rights, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, to join a panel of experts in journalism, politics, sociology, corporate social responsibility and the arts, as a guest speaker at the “Le sexisme, c’est pas mon genre!” conference on gender equality and combating gender violence in Lyon, France on November 22, 2012. Lindsey’s talk, “Combating violence against women: the challenge of our century”, will address the imperative of ending gender violence and illustrate how violence against women is linked to harmful gender stereotypes.

We are pleased to announce that Women’s WorldWide Web Founder Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke has been nominated as one of EuropaNova’s “40 under 40” European Young Leaders of 2011. From December 8th to 10th, Lindsey will join a group of Europe’s most exceptional young leaders from diverse professional fields for a Paris-based seminar focused on promoting strategic alliances across all sectors of society in response to the EU’s most pressing social, economic and environmental challenges.

EuropaNova is a European NGO dedicated to promoting a fairer, more effective global governance movement. The “40 under 40” European Young Leaders programme is coordinated in partnership with the non-profit think tank Friends of Europe, the European Commission, and numerous other renowned European foundations and think tanks.

On November 30 2011, Women’s WorldWide Web Founder Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke will represent W4 at the first “Pionnières Day” (Pioneers’ Day), organized by the French network of women’s business incubators, Federation Pionnières. Leading female entrepreneurs will gather together to explore opportunities for fostering female entrepreneurship as a catalyst for economic growth. The event is an opportunity for Lindsey, on behalf of Women’s WorldWide Web, to discuss the subjects of female entrepreneurship, social business and sustainable development with other leading female entrepreneurs from around the country.

From October 30 to November 1, 2011, the Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance (YEA) will hold its G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit in Nice, France. Women’s WorldWide Web Founder Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke will attend the summit’s International Conference of Entrepreneurs to exchange ideas about how to accelerate social and economic development through entrepreneurship. Other attendees include: Professor Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Founder of Grameen Bank; Emmanuel Faber, Vice Chairman of Danone; and Dov Zeyrat, Managing Director of the Agence Française de Developpement.

Katerva Challenge

Women’s WorldWide Web has been officially nominated for the 2011 Katerva Challenge Award in the category of Gender Equality. This is an initiative of the Global Challenge Institute, a center for research aimed at promoting sustainability projects throughout the world.

A group of experts in the Gender Equality category is now in the process of reviewing nominees and selecting a winner, which will be announced in September 2011.

Women’s WorldWide Web has been invited to participate in the “Women’s Empowerment” cluster of Ashoka’s upcoming Changemakers’ Week to be held in Paris from 16 June to 23 June 2011. This prestigious event will celebrate Ashoka’s 30th Anniversary by bringing together over 1,000 of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs. Women’s WorldWide Web and other key stakeholders will brainstorm strategies for encouraging women’s economic autonomy as well as programs and policies for the protection of their human rights.

The association, ABACA & EVENEMENTS, has invited Women’s WorldWide Web Founder, Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke, to speak at its “Exceptional Women” conference on 21 May 2011 in Paris. The event will centre on the theme of exceptional women entrepreneurs who have become influential social, economic, and political actors. Lindsey has been invited to speak as a “Femme d’Exception” and will illustrate how the work of Women’s WorldWide Web in microfinance serves to help women around the world to achieve their own entrepreneurial endeavours.

The gathering will be presided over by Senegalese Minister of Microfinance and Female Entrepreneurship, Ms Seynabou Ly M’backé, and will include the exceptional attendance of former French Human Rights Minister and current French Ambassador to UNESCO, Ms Rama YADE.

On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, “Les Femmes S’en Mêlent” rock festival, which celebrates young female indie artists, is supporting the work of W4! The festival runs from March 22nd to March 30th, 2012, with concerts in Paris and throughout France. We invite you to join some of the members of the W4 Paris team for an opening conference about women’s networking, co-hosted by Les Femmes S’en Mêlent and French magazine Causette on March 22nd from 6-8.30pm at the Point Éphémère in Paris. W4 will join a diverse panel of journalists, entrepreneurs, techies, as well as some of the festival’s artists, to discuss ways we can connect and network to support the talents and creativity of girls and women worldwide!
