A WARM THANK YOU TO SHISEIDO FOR SUPPORTING THIS PROJECT & OUR WORK AT W4!
THE CHALLENGE
Digital skills are increasingly essential to access employment opportunities: it’s estimated that over 90% of future jobs will require at least basic digital skills. IT skills can open up employment opportunities for women of all ages, as well as access to other resources and opportunities that can improve women’s social and economic inclusion, wellbeing and quality of life. Yet, there’s a persistent digital gender divide: many women lack crucial foundational digital skills – also right here in Europe – and women are also missing out on job opportunities in tech or tech-related employment.
The SOLUTIONS WE'RE PROPOSING
Offer women in Spain—particularly out-of-work women in low-income communities—the opportunity to access free digital skills (and upskilling) training programs that will equip them with valuable digital skills and enable them to gain tech sector, or tech-related, employment. The program offers women job seekers a range of free digital skills training programs, from foundational digital skills training to professional IT qualification programs, such as web development, content design and UX/UI. The program also offers access to a mentoring and networking program, matching the women in the program with professionals from the tech sector to foster women’s access to employment opportunities, and boost women's confidence in their ability to pursue employment in tech and tech-related fields. The program aims to accelerate women’s access to employment, to foster women’s access to a support network and to contribute to promoting greater gender diversity in tech and tech-related employment.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIVING
Your donation will offer women in vulnerable social and economic situations the opportunity to acquire IT skills and qualifications and benefit from mentors and a support network that will help them secure formal employment. Your giving can positively impact the lives of unemployed women, fostering their socio-economic empowerment. Furthermore, by supporting women’s employment in tech and tech-related jobs and mentoring to promote women’s inclusion in tech, your support will also contribute to shifting mindsets and promoting greater gender diversity in tech which encourages a virtuous cycle.
