A WARM THANK YOU TO SHISEIDO FOR SUPPORTING THIS PROJECT & OUR WORK AT W4!
THE CHALLENGE
Finding a path out of unemployment can be very challenging, particularly so for women from low-income communities—including migrant and refugee women—who may lack the necessary skills and qualifications, and the support network, to help them obtain employment. Indeed, despite governmental efforts to support unemployed women, many out-of-work women -including refugee women - in very low-income communities are unsure where to turn to access job placement support and employment opportunities. Moreover, their precarious living circumstances can undermine their self-confidence and leave these women feeling isolated. This can be particularly problematic for refugee women who may also face language barriers.
THE SOLUTIONS WE'RE PROPOSING
Support innovative programs to provide unemployed, marginalized women in low-income communities—including migrant and refugee women—with skills training, support, and guidance to promote their access to formal employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and facilitate their socio-economic integration. The programs offer unemployed women free skills training to enable them to acquire key skills that will boost their employability or enable them to set up their own enterprises: German language skills training, including economic and technical language courses, job placement guidance and support, modular-based entrepreneurship training (from developing a business plan to accessing funding opportunities and marketing); and coaching and networking support to help boost women’s self-confidence and facilitate women’s access to employment opportunities. As almost all employment opportunities require at least a mastery of basic digital skills, providing out-of-work women with at least foundational digital skills is crucial. W4 is proud to partner with the ReDI School in Berlin, which offers a “Digital Women Program” https://www.redi-school.org/berlin-women-program, providing women, including refugee women, with free access to digital skills training, ranging from digital literacy courses to web design and coding. These innovative, tailored courses enable women to acquire essential digital skills that can boost their employability as well as expanding their social and professional network with the aim to ensure women’s digital inclusion.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIVING
By donating to these programs, you are helping to enable unemployed women in vulnerable situations to access skills training and support, including moral support, that can be positively life-changing for them! Your donation will offer opportunities for women to acquire skills that can facilitate their employment, and give them access to the care and support they need to socially and economically (re)integrate into their communities and societies. By donating, you are helping these women on their paths towards employment and social and economic inclusion and empowerment.
