THE CHALLENGE

Employment is key to promoting women’s socioeconomic inclusion and empowerment. Women in vulnerable social and economic situations who are unemployed can feel socially isolated and lack the confidence and direction they need to secure employment. For unemployed women in low-income communities, it can be particularly challenging to (re)gain the self-confidence required to proactively seek  employment and go through the job interviewing process. For these women, a job search can seem a lonely, daunting prospect.

The SOLUTIONS WE'RE PROPOSING

Our programs provide unemployed women—who are particularly economically vulnerable—with job placement guidance, care and support, in addition to skills training, to help the women access formal employment. The programs aim to help women map out their path towards employment and develop the confidence and acquire the skills they need to integrate the job market. Through job placement guidance, women benefit from the support they need to evaluate their skillset and assess how their skillset matches available job opportunities. Women also have the opportunity to acquire new skills that will boost their employability through vocational and digital skills training courses. These courses are also a precious opportunity for the women to socialize, connect with a peer support network and gain confidence. Through W4’s partner, Association Joséphine, women are also able to benefit from innovative wellness programs (beauty, hairdressing, reflexology, sophrology) and coaching (including guidance for job prospection, soft skills training, interview preparation) which foster women’s self-esteem and help women to feel job-ready. This suite of programs aims to enable unemployed women to access the training, resources and crucial moral support and care they need on their path towards employment.
